In Which I Become all Legal-Like to Work in the USA

Apologies for not paying as much attention as I usually do to you all. And by you all, I mean (a) this here blog that I tend to anthropomorphise, and (b) you lovely people that take the time to read it.

I've been all wrapped up in wrapping up things here, before heading down to the US next week.

One of those things saw me driving to the border to apply for work status this morning. And I'm really glad that I did, before the final crossing that I have planned. I had to wait a good hour before I saw an immigration agent before getting involved in a five minute application / payment / hand-over of TN Status card process.

Had I waited to apply until next Saturday, I couldn't even imagine how anxious that kind of wait would've made me.

Sometimes, there are benefits to being a planner.

Congratulations. In following your progress through to legal work status I had many terrible flashbacks to my own relocation. Worst of all was leaving my work permit packed in a binder that was being shipped weeks after I arrived in the UK. The nice immigration officer let me in, but it was touch and go for a while. Hey, I'm not a rocket scientist. I actually wish I was just as smart a rocket. Maybe someday.

What is the new job and why is it better than your old one?
